Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about The Work Truck Fuel Vault — from installation and compatibility to fleet pricing and warranty coverage.
Installation & Compatibility
Does installation require drilling?
No. The Work Truck Fuel Vault bolts on using your existing bezel screw holes or our tamper-resistant security screws. There is no drilling and no cutting — most installs take about 8–15 minutes with basic hand tools.
Will installing the Fuel Vault void my Ford or Ram chassis warranty?
No. The Fuel Vault mounts over the exposed fuel cap area using existing hardware points and does not alter the fuel system, tank, or chassis. It is a bolt-on cover, so it does not affect your factory powertrain or chassis warranty.
Which trucks does it fit?
The Fuel Vault fits Ford F-350 through F-600, Ford E-Series (E-350/E-450), and Ram 3500 through 5500 work trucks, plus common service-body brands including Knapheide, Reading, Monroe, Scelzi, and Auto Truck Group. Use the fitment finder to confirm your exact truck.
Does it work with service bodies and upfits?
Yes. The Fuel Vault is designed for the exposed fuel fills common on chassis cabs upfitted with service bodies, utility bodies, dump beds, and flatbeds. It works alongside Knapheide, Reading, Monroe, Scelzi, and Auto Truck Group builds.
Will it affect my Ram 5500 DEF fill?
The Fuel Vault secures the diesel fuel fill. On trucks where the DEF fill sits in the same exposed area, the cover can also shield it from tampering and contamination. Check the fitment notes for your specific configuration or contact us.
Product & Materials
What is the Fuel Vault made of?
The door is made from a proprietary High Impact Reinforced Polymer — a tough engineered material roughly 3/16" (4.8 mm) thick. It is virtually unbreakable, non-corrosive, and built to withstand UV, salt, diesel, extreme temperatures, and constant road vibration without going brittle or cracking like thin factory plastic doors.
How does it stop fuel theft?
The Fuel Vault is a locking, armored cover over the entire fuel cap area. It blocks access to the cap and filler neck so thieves cannot remove the cap to siphon fuel or drop contaminants into the tank. Combined with tamper-resistant security screws, there is no easy way in.
Is it just a locking gas cap?
No. A locking gas cap only secures the cap itself and can be pried or cut. The Fuel Vault is a full locking fuel door — an armored cover over the whole filler area — which provides far more protection against siphoning, prying, and contamination.
Is it made in the USA?
Yes. The Work Truck Fuel Vault is designed and manufactured in the USA by AMI Transportation, LLC in Sarasota, Florida. It is patent pending.
